Penrhiw Priory, Roch Castle, and Twr y Felin Hotel feature more than 250 original artworks. The collection includes the work of 20 Welsh, British and International artists, twelve of whom were specially commissioned to create works inspired by the spectacular landscape of the St Davids Peninsula and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Penrhiw Priory was initially built in 1884 by the Church in Wales as a Vicarage. It was built on the site of a large longhouse farm building. John Middleton and Son of Cheltenham carried out the design.
Penrhiw is a fine example of high Victorian architecture, built in Tudorbethan style with squared Caerbwdi rubble stone, limestone ashlar dressings, steep slate roofs with bargeboards, terracotta ridge tiles and tall stone stacks. The interior woodwork is pitch pine, with deep skirting boards. Large, panelled doors, panelled window reveals and a lovely staircase. There are also two fine fireplaces with decorative tiles by William De Morgan, the celebrated Arts and Crafts ceramics maker.
Retreats Group brings together distinctive luxury destinations in Wales, including Twr y Felin Hotel, Roch Castle, Penrhiw Priory, and Blas Restaurant. United by exceptional design, warm hospitality, and a sense of place, each offers a refined retreat where guests can relax, indulge, and experience the very best of Welsh culture, cuisine, and coastal landscapes.
